Part of Castle Crags state campground, the swinging bridge in the back goes across the river and up into the Upper Castle Crags campground; the path goes through Castella. This place was near a favorite year round camp for Wintu people, prior to the coming of the white men. Hastings established a camp here, following in the manner of beaver trappers and other frontiersmen before him.
