Acorn Trees - near Blocksburg, Trinity County
Each Wintu family had its own tree or group of trees, to harvest in the Fall. Acorns were ground into flour and used in a variety of ways; uses included soups, meal, coffee, and more. Acorn was an important staple in the Wailakki Wintu diet.
