We are on the county road, on Long Ridge, at the south west end of Trinity County - this road continues south to Covelo and Round Valley Indian Reservation

Sacramento River below Castle Crags, Shasta County, CA

Part of Castle Crags state campground, the swinging bridge in the back goes across the river and up into the Upper Castle Crags campground; the path goes through Castella. This place was near a favorite year round camp for Wintu people, prior to the coming of the white men. Hastings established a camp here, following in the manner of beaver trappers and other frontiersmen before him.

Dry Camp, south of Ruth Lake, Trinity County, CA

We camped here a few times between 1993 and 1996.

Acorn Trees - near Blocksburg, Trinity County

Each Wintu family had its own tree or group of trees, to harvest in the Fall. Acorns were ground into flour and used in a variety of ways; uses included soups, meal, coffee, and more. Acorn was an important staple in the Wailakki Wintu diet.
